I think it’s just ’cause they’re both cute in sweaters.
Is this an illegal corporate express advocacy expenditure? I think it probably is. Possibly it could fall within the exemption for de minimis expenditures for announcing an endorsement . . . except that the company ISN’T announcing an endorsement. It’s asking employees as voters to support Obama and McCain because they’re “better” on immigration.
My guess is that the lawyers never saw this.
