There’s nothing more boring that quoting a bunch of fundraising statistics in campaign coverage. It doesn’t exactly make your toes tingle to read the following:
“According to reports filed by both campaigns this week with the Federal Election Commission, Trauner raised almost $171,000 during the second quarter of 2006, about $24,000 more than Cubin.”
Or this:
Schwarz, R-Battle Creek, collected $433,000 during the most recent fundraising period that lasted from April through the end of June, and has about $409,000 in the bank. Walberg, of Tipton, raised $236,000 during the period and ended with about $395,000 on hand.
Or this:
Republican Rick O’Donnell and Democrat Ed Perlmutter each raised about $300,000 in the second quarter of this year. The reports, which cover the period between April 1 and June 30, are due to the Federal Election Commission on Saturday. O’Donnell has raised $1.2 million and has $856,000 on hand. Perlmutter has raised about $1 million and has $515,000 on hand.
No wonder people think campaign finance is dull.
